Mr Allen Burberry

  • was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge (Natural Sciences Tripos and Hankey Radio Scheme, (1941-42)
  • worked at Telecommunications Research Establishment (1942-47) on design and siting of homing antenna systems. About 100 aircraft types were fitted and tested
  • Manager of Antenna Dept. Worked in the Radio Division, STC (1947-71). Responsible for design and manufacture of majority of UK airborne antennas and siting on most British aircraft
  • Head of Antenna Design, British Aerospace, Bristol (1971-1988).This covered antennas for all types of vehicles from manpack to spacecraft. Installed performance and measurement was a particular interest. Much work on HF and VHF antennas on aircraft and vehicles was undertaken as well as installation of IFF and NIS on many platforms, ground and airborne.
  • Consultant on all aspects of antennas (1989- present)

Mr. Burberry is an Associate member of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He was a member of the Propagation, Antennas and Waveguide Committee of the Electronics Research Council (1972 -1978). He was a member and ultimately Chairman of the BSI subcommittee on Methods of Measurement for Antennas (1975-1987). From 1975 to 1987, he was a member of the IEC Working Party on Methods of Measurement of Mobile Antennas.
